The Iowa community, especially those connected to the Bosco Catholic School System, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Cayden Nie, a student remembered for his generosity, humor, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. Cayden’s passing has left classmates, teachers, friends, and family devastated, struggling to comprehend the loss of a young life so full of heart and promise.
Cayden was known among his peers as someone who never hesitated to help others. His personality shined through in acts of simple generosity, the kind that left a lasting impact on those he encountered. Whether he was offering support, stepping in to lend a hand, or providing a quick-witted remark to brighten someone’s day, Cayden had a gift for making others feel valued.
Friend Braxton Chicchelly shared a touching tribute that echoed the sentiments of many who knew Cayden: “Please send prayer and grace to the Nie families and the Gilbertville-Don Bosco communities. Cayden was the type of person to give you the shirt right off his back (if he had one on), volunteer himself to help with whatever was needed and strike a quick witted comeback to crack a smile. Cayden was truly a good person and I will forever cherish the conversations we had driving home from school and watching him grow up into a great young man. May your soul find eternal peace and freedom. We sure do miss and love you buddy.”
Cayden’s loss has also deeply shaken the faith community at Bosco Catholic School System, where he was cherished as both a student and a friend. The school expressed its condolences and called for collective prayer, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another during this time of grief. “As you may have already heard, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of one of our students, Cayden Nie… May God surround them with His comfort, His strength, and His unending peace during this heartbreaking time.”
To support the Nie family, a Veridian account has been established, giving community members a tangible way to help as they face unimaginable sorrow. Donations can be made at any Veridian Credit Union branch, and contributions sent to the school will be delivered to the family. Additionally, Jesse Jeanne has offered Venmo as an option for those wishing to donate in Cayden’s name.
Jesse also shared a heartfelt message of her own, reflecting on Cayden’s spirit and the love he brought into the lives of those around him: “A true friend shows love at all times, and is a brother who is born for times of distress.”
As the Bosco community mourns, they are united in faith, leaning on one another as they honor Cayden’s memory. His generosity, humor, and caring nature will continue to live on in the stories, friendships, and lives he touched.
Cayden Nie will be remembered not for the brevity of his years, but for the depth of his kindness and the love he shared so freely.
